About the Instructor

I have been a counselor since 1980. I have been a program director, supervisor, and consultant to several treatment programs. I use an eclectic approach to counseling utilizing a variety of methods including Rogerian Client-Centered Therapy, Psychodynamic, and Gestalt Therapy.  My main focus is to utilize Experiential Therapy.  I owned and operated an experiential team-building business in Texas for 15 years.  This experience taught me the importance of using experience as a therapeutic change agent.  I believe it is experience that forms us and experience that transforms us.  I will attempt to help the client create experience in their life that will provide healing.  Because of this approach, I try to give the client a structure and framework to work within.  I also am a strong believer in teaching methods to create change.  I often conceptualize assignments for the client to try in their life and report back upon to assess what the effect was.  I try to meet the client’s therapeutic needs based upon where they are in their healing process.I provide individual, couple, family and group counseling.  I lead domestic violence groups, aggression control classes, ADHD classes, and codependency workshops.   I work with people going through transitions, divorce, depression and anxiety, and most general counseling issues.  I have worked with addictions throughout my 31 years as a counselor. I was the director of two Drug and Alcohol agencies in Texas; however, I am not certified as an addiction counselor in Washington State.
